For those who do not want to read through a long technical document, the following is a very simple pictorial representation of what Locata does.

GPS was not originally intended or designed to work in urban, indoor or industrial areas. Professional users, such as our integration partners, understand that GPS in these environments is just like Swiss cheese… it’s full of holes. This makes GPS very unreliable for applications where your position solution has to be accurate, correct and reliable.. without fail!

The Locata solution is, conceptually at least, very simple. Place a LocataLite (our equivalent of a
GPS satellite) in an area where GPS signals are unreliable, turn it on, and the LocataLite “fills in the GPS holes”. Sounds like a logical and intelligent thing to do, frankly, but before Locata no-one could overcome the immense technical hurdles required to achieve this simple-sounding solution.

Locata is the first and only technology in the world that can replicate GPS on the ground, and so allow anyone to overcome the serious limitations of GPS for modern applications.

This Locata Technology Primer is a relatively simple-to-understand document which we prepared in 2005 to explain Locata technology to early-stage investors in our company. The technology fundamentals and the comparisons shown in the Primer are still relevant, even though the document describes Locata developments from some time ago. More up-to-date technical information is available in the independently produced technology papers, or by contacting Locata directly. (Please also remember that Locata developed this technology in “stealth mode” for many years, so much of the information on our systems is still not public.
